Birdwatching

With over 1,650 species of birds, and an extremely high level of endemics, birding and birdwatching tours are a great attraction in Ecuador. The nation is classed as one of the world’s top destinations for birding. The main regions of interest for birders are the forests of the eastern and western slopes of the Andes, the Amazon rainforest and coastal areas. The list of interesting species that are found in Ecuador is endless and includes many types of hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans, the cock of the rock, antpittas, trogons, quetzals and guans.
